FROZEN STARS: by Awa Chigozie Jerome

The nights came in spirals
and left dots of silver frozen
Like rapids of corals
The dots froze in heaven

The moon has been on guard
Over the stars that breath at night
Flanked by raised eyebrows and a sword
It turns the watchknight of the night

The firewood that was lit
Has been drenched in blood
It summons our trembling feet
To be witnesses of the war untold

Incantations have been made
To the priest of the night,my moon
Over the frosty bells of blood heard
Our songs retreat back to their cocoons
