Go Warn Gowon
www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [Go Warn Gowon]
Go warn Gowon that he hasn’t really won
Those he won at dusk are better at dawn
The Kwashiorkor kids are no longer hungrily down
The gaunt and vanquished wear no frown
Warn GoWon he hasn’t really won!

Do you have pleasant sleeps or ruptured dreams?
See swollen tummies at the rims of your dream as your eyes dim;
Yes! Those innocent kids, do you still hear their screams?
Guess you are busy with Bible and gospel films.
GoWon go AWOL with your sanctimonious schemes!

Have you been to Plateau where indigenes grovel
Because the holy settlers snatched their shovel?
GoWon, won’t you settle the settlers with your vicious gavel?
Bring in your Russian jets, churn their bodies into charred gravel
To keep your state one at all cost should also be novel.

Jack Charge won but he looks worn
Worn out in dismay, he is now down and forlorn
Forlorn and abandoned by the Brits and Fulanis, now he alone mourns
Mourning his scorns, as the settlers graze his people’s corn.
Go warn GoWon now that he is worn that he hasn’t won!
