‘TELLING OUR STORIES’: FEAST OF WORDS 2018 HOLDS DEC 1 IN IBADAN

Words Rhymes & Rhythm Publishers Ltd. is pleased to invite writers, performers, thinkers, artists, book lovers and lovers of literature to the 4th edition of the annual WRR Literary Festival – ‘FEAST OF WORDS’ which will hold on the 1st of December 2018 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

This year’s theme is: ‘TELLING OUR STORIES.’

The FEAST OF WORDS, one of Nigeria’s most anticipated literary festivals, especially among the younger generation of writers, is a unique, one-day, non-ticketed literary festival that features performances, discussion panels, award presentations, book readings, poetry, musical, and drama performances.

Over the years, the festival has become a much-anticipated opportunity for young writers from all over Nigeria to interact with each other face-to-face.

DATE: Saturday, December 1, 2018
VENUE: THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, University of Ibadan, IBADAN, Ibadan, Oyo State
TIME: 10:00 am – 6pm

We hope to have the pleasure of your attendance, even as we expect other amazing stakeholders in the Nigerian literary space. It promises to be loads of fun.

In furtherance of our overall aim of promoting literary excellence in Nigeria, specifically among young writers, the 2018 edition will focus on students of International Secondary School Ibadan, to enable us make an even more visible impact. We hope to be able to donate 100 books to the school library. Kindly come along with at least one book for this purpose [READ MORE].

Awards will be presented to about 100 recipients for the WRR-GREEN AUTHOR PRIZE (GAP) 2017; the BRIGITTE POIRSON POETRY CONTEST (BPPC) 2018; the ALBERT JUNGERS POETRY PRIZE (AJPP) 2017 and the Words Rhymes & Rhythm NIGERIA TEACHERS AWARD (WRR-NTA) 2017.

The Brigitte Poirson Poetry Contest (BPPC) 2018 anthology ‘CITADEL OF WORDS’, featuring the top 10 entries of the monthly BPPC contest from February to September 2018, will be unveiled at the Festival and distributed free to all attendees, as has been the tradition in the past editions.

Authors and booksellers who wish to display books at the event should reach out to us before Wednesday the 28th of November, 2018. There will be no fee charged for displaying books.

 


The FEAST OF WORDS is one of the many ways through which Words Rhymes & Rhythm Publishers Ltd. promote Nigerian writing and support the development of young Nigerian writers. The Festival presents an opportunity for interaction and networking amongst young writers all over the country. The 2015, 2016 and 2017 editions had in attendance writers and literary enthusiast from all over the country.
