Nigerian poet, soul singer and author Olajuwon Joseph Olumide has won the 2022 Albert Jungers Poetry Prize (AJPP) for his award-winning poem “DO NOT DIE IN THEIR WAR!”
Akinfolami, a student of History and International Studies at the University of Ilorin, won the Eriata Oribhabor Poetry Prize (EOPP) 2022 for her emotional social comment poem “PALINDROME ZYX”.

here, the only ode is a receding
of insult. instead of pillows, my guardian
uses a slab, nets it on my nape & calls it
discipline. yet, that same night, cracks open—
like an egg—a psalm with my name.
I asked a boy, an orphan, bathing the street with waters
from his body, what led his pedigree to rest.
He said it was a bullet from a drunk policeman’s riffle.
Today, the chief’s wife visited the village square
her once-rectangular parts now are square!
but we dare not boo or harry her…

On the Top 3 shortlist of the 2022 edition of the ₦100,000 worth Eriata Oribhabor Poetry Prize (EOPP) are Nwuguru C. Sullivan, Hussani Abdulrahim, and Oluwafisayo Akinfolami.
