Read Time:24 Second

Uche paid a month’s wage
for a gallon of kerosened-fuel!
then harried his bus to the garage
where he quadrupled the regular fare.
Musa shouted, “driver, this is not fair,”
broke Akpan fired a word-barrage,
Olaide joined the word-duel…
chai! bared fangs of rage!
…
but to stay on payslip-page
all did pay a month’s wage
…
curses whip bro Jonathan
(“bastard, clueless, charlatan”)
as hopeful eyes rape the General:
“may Fuel Scarcity meet his funeral”
