We cried out, our voices like wildfires
Protesting injustice, our hearts ablaze with desire
For freedom’s flame, we fought and bled
When oppressive shadows tried to snuff it dead
We marched, a river of resolve, flowing strong
Against the dam of oppression, our voices thunder long
Some fell, like harmattan leaves, their dreams unfulfilled
But their legacy remains, a seedling that won’t be stilled
Still, we rise, like the morning sun
Our struggle far from won, our spirit just begun
To break the chains, to shatter the glass
To find equality, and forever last.
