Congratulations Ike Ikeogu for winning the 2017 Liquefied Natural Gas Limited Nigerian Prize for Literature!

“I worked on it for 27 years…I thought of writing a poem and soon had about twenty lines. I started thinking of how to develop it into a long narrative, an epic, because the lines struck me as epic in their movement and rhythm. Afterward, other sets of lines came to me and I wrote them down. I worked on the poem continuously. From the time the first line came to me and when the last line came, spanned 25 years.. ”

— Ikeogu Oke, speaking about his book ‘The Heresiad,’ which won the 2017 NLNG Prize (in an interview with Daily Trust newspaper ‘I learnt of my NLNG prize win on Facebook – Oke’

Indeed, a book such as ‘The Heresaid’ is worthy of such resounding victory and a dream of 25 years, crowned with such success, is one to be collectively happy about.

The entire Words Rhymes & Rhythm family celebrates this much deserved success with you.

We wish you even more laurels.
