REVIEWER: SHOOLA OYINDAMOLA

Prior to reading Conversations, Contemplations and Ponderations, I have been fortunate to have several conversations with the author, Jesudamilare and to benefit, personally from his wisdom, commitment, and pursuit of God with diligence. When we discussed, he mentioned how this book is important, to other people so that they can gain more knowledge of God and also, how it is important to keep the memories of someone dear to him; a star that graced our heaven, ErititobiOluwa.

Both books turned out to be great reads. These first two paragraphs of this review is highly important, first to writers, for them to realize that so much can come from who we think is gone or lost to heavens. History keeps people alive and when you write about people that mean so much to you, you keep them alive.

Of immortality and the quest for God, Jesudamilare writes how immortality is beyond our perception of things that don’t die. With various bible references, particularly 2 Corinthians 4:16-18:

“…While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Jesudamilare infers that immortality is timelessness and “out-resurrection;” the one and final resurrection that Christ did to timelessly connect us to God, so that we can partake continually in who God is.

Jesudamilare, with his book Conversations Contemplations and Ponderations reveals God in many parts and by definitions. In another section titled; That Blessed Hope, Jesudamilare defines hope as something that is patient and is void of uncertainty and anxiety. So that when we say, from the bible (1 Timothy 1:1)

“…Christ Jesus our hope…”

It means that we have total dependency and submission to the will of God through Christ. Jesudamilare emphasizes God’s will, one of which is salvation and how we can have it without uncertainty or doubt because we have hope in Christ, through whom we worship or have access to God.
Jesudamilare further defines terms that have been lost and devalued by human definition. Terms like fellowship; a companionship in communion to God through Christ, koinonia! Fellowship is more than a gathering, it breeds a connection to God.

In Conversations, Contemplations and Ponderations, we get to see who Christ is to us and for us. Jesudamilare writes;

“On the cross, an entirely new creation was brought into existence in Christ. An entirely new one. The challenge is to believe that though I‘m still seeing the old, yet it is not real! I was created fresh in Christ on the cross! Jesus said ―It is finished!; God looked at me and said, ―Perfect!”

The statement that catches my eye the most is; “God looked at me and said, – Perfect!” not through my eyes, not through my experiences, but through his son who died and resurrected anew, “God looked at me and said, – Perfect!”

In another section of Conversations, Contemplations and Ponderations, titled; Present Sir! Jesudamilare emphasizes our purpose and the fact that our creation by God is not a mistake. Drawing inspiration from Jerimiah 1:5, Jesudamilare writes:

“I am a proceeding word from the Father. Just as Jesus is the word of God, the only-begotten, I am a word of God and a son amongst many. And this word which He has spoken, which I am, is being made flesh. I am coming to full stature of the word which I am.”

In recognition that I am a word from God, I feel valued and unaccountably admired to know that I am someone’s intention for goodness and to make exploits.

Conversations, Contemplations and Ponderations encourages us to be present with the way God perceives us and want us to be and to become. Jesudamilare reveals that Christianity is beyond a religion and it is a communion and when we see it as such and with much dependency on God through Christ, we can enjoy the fullness of what God intends for us, peacefully.

Conversations, Contemplations and Ponderations is very thoughtful and Jesudamilare did his research well in the word of God, to deliver his message well.
