I saw the cat sitting next to the grocery shop!
Stationed strategically to suit attention of passersby.
A cat once well fed, begging and crying for a ‘raindrop’,
Appealing to the ‘humanity of mankind’, but no one, dear, sees her cry.
I saw as her oval shaped mouth back the tail,
And the tears beautifying the pupil through her lower chin,
I saw the bulky blue eyes turned red pale,
I saw the cat’s head bruised from ‘turns of lashing’
And when I have reached my pocket,
Where is this cat to be found?
Inhumanity and shame will never let it wait one moment,
Oh no!only I saw the cat, so I groped all around.
I spot the cat as it crawled over the 3rd Bay wall,
Weary, tired, homesick for the home she’s never had,
Inhumanity and shame would not even let it hearken to my call,
I saw pool of blood as the ‘rain drops’ from my eyes
Nothing as sad as a waif. When you look into its eyes, they seem to be asking “why?”!
