Penance

To every soul I have seeded a kiss
And every rust left on your lips
To lust burnt in childish feat
Forgive I plead

To promises made in hurried speech
And covenant broken in my immoral deeds
To every word spoken that made you bleed
Forgive I plead

To witless greed, in my every deed
And action that called thee a misfit
To cold feet, places I won’t thee lead
Forgive I plead

To prophecies uttered by what I see
And words spoken from a parched spirit
To every vision spoken I didn’t see
Forgive I plead

If my love brought thee naught but pains- forgive
Let these solemn words be balm for thee to heal
Words cannot atone I know, I still appeal-
Forgive I plead

For trust broken in deceit
And things I took that you can’t retrieve
My hand are outstretched; contrite spirit
Forgive I plead
