I Am One
www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [I Am One]
Who says, I’m from the North?
Could you please guide your uncovered mouth,
Stinking like particle from blocked sewage.
Maybe you’ve never seen me company of the Igwe
Wait till daybreak,
You will see him sharing kola with me

Who says, I’m a Native of the South?
That bigotry could land you in the cell of my wrath!
If you don’t know, I’m a heir to the Oba’s throne.
Stand there till dusk-fall
When I will share stool, having amala.

Who is that man that says I’m from the West?
That villainous remark could cause him life shame;
Like a promise breaker, who made heaven and earth pledge to the citizens.
May be you will know when the Emir rebukes you for being rude to me.
Stay there till the arrival of noon,
You will see him taking fura with me.

Who says I’m from the East?
Will you stop that incitement,
Before your embarrassment surfaces!
For this shared sky may strip you, leave you naked
And this earth bed could bruise and burn your feet

Hear today, I tell you
I am one man made from all genes!
