Did We Crown You King?
Did We Crown You King?

Did we crown you king?
Rules and decrees upon our heads,
Did you promise to bring,
In this city of locks and dreads?

Did you promise to lead
Or to serve
That which we need?
Have you lost your nerve?

You wore no sandals.
Now you wear shoes.
Why bring us nefarious scandals,
Many don’ts and few dos?

Your mismanagements and corruptions sting
Are they what you promised to bring?

meet the poet: Eyo Justice Ellis

Brilliant. It doesn’t really make a difference, does it? No one in power ever gives a damn about the people there… it’s just this: take, take, take mentality while the citizens suffer.

Yes, and when you complain, you get locked up or assassinated. Very sad.
