Dark Day
www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [Dark Day]
The sun shone, a day so bright
Many came in a-flight
Different homes they did depart
Leaving loved ones at heart

They came to these four walls
In which this firmament stands tall
They came to learn
But for lives did Death yearn

Oppression contends not with mortals
It even bereaved immortals
But Authorities don’t care
And the ‘boys’ took crosses they couldn’t bear

Righteous Invasion of ‘Terro-students’ (RIOT) began
And the territory did expand
When Men in Black Khaki were involved
The peaceful war then revolved

Many a number were left lifeless
And the VC is now office-less
Chaos found its place
Birthing target-less race

Tell me what brought this dolour?
Who changed the colour?
Many died the death they wouldn’t have died
And I cried the tears I wouldn’t have cried.

Now we are left at home,
Our peers, in prisons, roam
The protest we auctioned
Has left us, long gone

*It was another June 12 for UNIUYO Students, staff and those affected.
