We are thrilled to announce the judges for the Eriata Oribhabor Poetry Prize (EOPP) 2024: Jide Badmus, a returning judge, and Nasiba Babale—two celebrated poets and literary figures who will lend their expertise to selecting exceptional poetic works.
About The Judges:
Jide Badmus, an engineer and poet, is renowned for his evocative works that explore themes of beauty, destruction, and love. He is the author of four books, including Obaluaye (FlowerSong Press, 2022) and What Do I Call My Love for Your Body (Roaring Lion Newcastle, 2022). Beyond his writing, Badmus has made significant contributions to the literary community as the founder of INKspiredng and the Poetry Editor of CỌ́N-SCÌÒ Magazine. His dedication to curating anthologies and nurturing emerging voices underscores his commitment to the growth of contemporary poetry.


Nasiba Babale, a medical laboratory scientist and creative force, brings a wealth of experience to the judging panel. As the Creative Director of Poetic Wednesdays Initiative, she has been instrumental in fostering literary talent. Babale has moderated the Glass Door Initiative’s Poetically Written Prose contest and judged the Nigerian Students Poetry Prize. Her accolades include being shortlisted for the Brigitte Poirson Literature Prize (2023) and the Eugenia Abu International Prize for Creative Non-fiction (2024). A fellow of the Ebedi International Writers Residency, Babale is the author of The Rain is Like You (2023) and Pickled Moments (2024), both published by Konya Shams Rumi.
The EOPP 2024 is honoured to have these two exceptional poets as judges, whose expertise and passion for poetry will undoubtedly enrich the selection process.
