The poet finds a way of combining relatable images with rhymes and didacticism.  The language is simple, easily digestible—and the music in the lines is soothing. I set out reading the poems with the expectation of finding a singular thread of theme but found myself gulping down an eclectic concoction.

Like Lagos, the poems here have many sides to them—from the mundane to the salient—and for me, that’s the beauty. In this book, as in the city, you find where you fit in or what soothes you—you find identity, community...

Emmanuel Faith is a Lagos-based award-winning Nigerian writer and author of Chronicles of an Intern, a self-instruct book that explores the nuances of thriving as an intern in the corporate world. His works have featured on several platforms including Words Rhymes & Rhythms, Parousia Magazine and other literary sites.
