Men In Black
www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [Men In Black]
“Park! Park! Park!
Wey your particulars?”
They bark. Bark! Bark!
Harassing us, like a Rottweiler,
They spring out from the dark,
Pouncing on the innocent
Doctor, student, driver, actress…
Compounding our daily stress.

“Park! Park! Park!
Wey your particulars?”
They bark! Bark! Bark!
But, they seek our colored notes in particular!
Vampires, with bloodshot eyes and bright torchlight,
They extort and intimidate,
Mumbling vernacular,
All the way from Lagos to Abuja.

“Park! Park! Park!
Wey your particulars?
Ogbeni! I say park!” They bark.
Men in black, turning the journey into a nightmare;
Defenders leading the attack!
Fear flows down
Our matted green and white hair
Every time they appear.

Indeed, that’s the experience we know and we’ve come to expect. Well put.
