Today’s class exercise is a follow up to the lecture on RHYME IN POETRY: TYPES AND USAGE

A rhyme is a repetition of similar sounds in two or more words, most often at the end of lines in poems and songs. A rhyme is employed for a specific purpose rendering pleasing effect to a poem which makes its recital an enjoyable experience.

A lot of poets have been faulted for having ‘weak rhymes’. While this criticism is often more true than not, it must be noted that many poets are simply unaware of the proper usage of rhymes. This lecture was written to help the ‘rhyme-loving-poets’ in the house get ahead in the rhyming game. Please read and digest.

EXERCISE: You are to write a poem of 12 lines with different rhyme pattern in each stanza.

Read THE LECTURE for guidance.

The top 5 poems were published on WRR POETRY: FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS by Opeyemi Oso (& OTHER POEMS)
