How long shall they continue?
Go out and see
The streets are strewn with flesh, once breathing
And the earth has a new coat of paint; blood!
Go into the streets and hear
Listen to the crackled sounds the speakers blare
Dirges, telling the anguish of voices, muted at funerals.
Go farther and feel
Uncertainty certainly will come along, urging you
To quicken your steps, past gatherings of desolate souls.
How long shall this continue?

Pastor, we have heard you
But please lower your voice
Lest you invite Death, to congregate with us!
Why ask us again?
Our lives are in danger, we know
What do we do but wait for an end
Though we know not when that will be.

You never can tell
If the agent of Death sits amongst us!
