When I have seen what is meant for the eye and heard what is meant for the ear,
When my bones are weak and my joints begin to give way,
When my hands are fragile and my mind starts to err,
When age comes knocking and life slips away,
When the rooster crows at dusk and my sun goes to rest,
When I am weak and cannot remember my children’s name
When memories are washed away in sighs and I am laid to rest,
Let all my struggles be to you my benefactor,
And let my death bring to life the life in my years.
When I die, let my life live forever
Here with mankind and there with you my Lord.
