IMPERFECTIONS (a poem by Victor Igiri)

Victor IgiriFebruary 26, 2019March 31, 2019

I could be to you like the dew upon the rose; the blade of the grass or as the face of the sword I could be the blisters on your skins or the venom of the black mamba; I am not black I am only human.

Read Time:1 Minute, 2 Second
I could be the spark that lights up
your world
I could be your night across four spans
shrouding your shine

I could be the cancer that
breaks you into pebbles
or most often,
the green breath upon your veins;
embrace me,
I am only human.

I could be to you like the dew upon the rose;
the blade of the grass
or as the face of the sword
I could be the blisters on your skins
or the venom of the black mamba;
I am not black
I am only human.

I could be yours to hate a viper
I could be yours a flower to keep
I could be to you as petals to insects
or the beauty of the rainbow, sublime
like you,
I am also Life’s offspring.

I could be some trash to discard;
yet, your gem so rare to shelf
I could be your raging storm,
your weeds,
the parasite,
thunderstorms,
and even the brimstone to curse,
but cast me no stones
for just as you,
I am clay on queue for
the Potter’s recreation’s

But when I seem night on you
or Sunshine as I would,
Not perfect a flesh,
bear with me for
I
am
only
human.
