TO BE FREE (a poem by Maxwell Onyemaechi Opia-Enwemuche)

Read Time:39 Second
I am a bird
Who believes in freedom
To float anywhere I so much desire.
I’ve neither home nor bed,
But I live my life at random
Until I meet that fire
When I stop living & breathing.

 I am bird
Who believes in freedom,
But I’m haunted every day.
My life is an adventure
With horrible tales as landmarks
For my scars tells my story
& my happiness dampens my grief.

 I am a bird
Who believes in freedom –
I have lost so many friends,
But my courage keeps me going.
I know many have passed this route
Speaking of protest & fighting.
All I know & fight for is to be free
& freedom is the only song I desire to sing.
