A KING FOR A DAY

Read Time:51 Second

www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [A King For A Day]
If I could rise at the dawn
Ascend to the throne and to the crown
To rule the land and make its laws,
Guides its people remove its flaws’

By noon I’d parade the town
The people out with cheers and colored gowns,
The walls, towers and battlements
I’ll fortify to enemy encroachment.

When the sun sets over the horizon,
My wagon will seek out the abandoned
To give shelter and needed meat;
As men and patriots each one I’d greet.

With the first watch, I’ll counsel
To raise my land’s fortune – make it excel
Across the borders and to the land foreign
No man shall label my decrees herring.

By the last watch –
Ah, what hopes unto I latch
To be king for the full circle of the clock
Is thought for the drunks by the dock.
