PIN QUARTERLY JOURNAL (2016 SPECIAL EDITION) IS OUT!

The first print edition of the Poets in Nigeria PIN Quarterly Journal, Nigeria’s first journal dedicated to Nigerian poetry, is now available for purchase. It is a special edition.

While announcing the development on Friday, the Editor of the Journal, Kolade Olanrewaju Freedom, the journal has thirteen section – Across the Oceans, Poetic Insight, Crispy Satire, Food Poetry, Spoken Waves, On the Spot, Erotic Zone, Book Reviews, Creative Words on Marble, Blazing Hot, Tongues of Poetry, Puem Fo Naija Languej and Special Contribution, covering a wide range of poetry related subjects.

He noted that four electronic editions of The PIN Quarterly Journal had been previously published between October 2015 and September 2016, before, due to increasing number of readers, the decision to have a ‘special edition’ of selected submissions from past issues in print was reached.

“Untypical of conventional literary journals, it plunges deep into the bowels of poetry for the functional organs of the esteemed genre hitherto overlooked,” Kolade said.

“The contributors of the pieces in this sedition are of different ethnical, historical and literary backgrounds. Thus, their works are relatable and seek to travel distances and break barriers hindering societal uplift in all ramifications.”

Kolade further noted that the journal seeks to engender sustained interest for poetry and poetry related activities within Nigeria and global literary spaces.

Also speaking about the journal, the President, Poets in Nigeria, Eriata Oribhabor, said he hopes the publication will add to the rising profile of Nigerian poetry.
