If I call KUKOGHO IRUESIRI SAMSON’s collection of poems, ‘I SAID THESE WORDS,’ a masterpiece, take it from me that it is an understatement because this book is AHMAAZING!

I SAID THESE WORDS by Kukogho Iruesiri Samson

Kukogho appears to be a very defiant, silly and witty writer as shown by the poems in the book.

I would classify ‘I SAID THESE WORDS’ as a collection of as simple poetry – easy to read and understand. I read this book from the back to the front, because, in my opinion, the best poems are at the back, although the poems in the front are quite interesting too.

Kukogho Iruesiri Samson (KIS)

Kukogho wrote about religion, politics and Nigeria in a very ridiculous but serious and thought provoking way. He also wrote about ridiculous things like the importance of farting and the pronunciation of his name (that I also almost bit my tongue trying to pronounce).

He writes in a special way and about things that are “outside the box” for many writers. He mocks certain societal topics and issues in an eye-opening way, so much that I will dare call his poetry “education in a literary way” as they provoke questions and thoughts.

Besides that, this poet is a certified Buster Rhymes! Approximately 99% of his poems had rhymes in them and the rhymes are so effortless. He also has a unique style of writing that he has cultivated properly to satisfy the curiosity of a reader.

I SAID THESE WORDS is definitely entering my book gang without a doubt and I am going to get his second book soon.

I SAID THESE WORDS by Kukogho Iruesiri Samson

I recommend this book 100% to Nigerian poets especially. It is a book that should be included as literary texts for exams like WAEC, JAMB and NECO because it will educate and inspire young adults to think as they are moving to another stage in life. It will inform them about the issues that they could fix as adults.

Kukogho is very talented, very special and to me. He is Wole Soyinka in a modern and 21st century voice.
