WE DWELL IN A LAND

Read Time:1 Minute, 6 Second

www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [We Dwell In A Land]
We dwell in a land
Where the cruel do not desist from their cruelty
Human conscience is sold for a piece of bean cake
And the masses gather to share bones with dogs

We dwell in a land
Where some gather to have unity raped
Heartless mortals throwing grenades of death
Upon innocent souls living with patched hopes

We dwell in a land
Where preachers preach love only with lips
Ignoring the doing for listeners to follow,
Poverty marries dejection to sow hopelessness

We dwell in a land
Where blind men tussle for power and wealth
Without gazing at the plight of the dying masses
Sharing tales of pain, while their cake is shared

We dwell in a land
Whose blessed soil is turned to fields of bloodshed
And ignorance is planted by the arrogant ones
Masked while crushing her fertility into dry dust

It’s our father-land!
Her peace has been gnawed by toothless men
In our ignorance, we let them suck her strength
And now our faces are clad in unspoken sorrow

But it’s still our heritage, our land, our home
Let’s come together and make it a better place.
