WAVE YOUR BANNER

Read Time:1 Minute, 3 Second

www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [Wave Your Banner]
Though all men are created equally
Some stood differently
And fought
For democracy’s sake they died
So I salute them

I salute the flag
Green of the produce of our land
The white of our unity
And peace that we share
Wave your flag Nigerians
In whose name they fought
Blood for blood, what they shed
For freedom

I salute the Nigerians
Suffering and smiling
And for the oceans of time we’ve crossed
I saw Nigerians celebrating
What they hope to get

Wave your flag to Flora Shaw
Northerners, wave it to Lord Lugard
Who coloured your traditions
Southerners, wave to Rug De Esquire
Who explore your lands

I salute the living and dead
From the earth to their dust
I salute the freedom fighters
I salute you the flag bearer
Wave your flag and salute the
newspaper that fight with ink

I salute the seal of peace and progress
I salute the power of unity and faith
With honour we shall represent
The world of freedom
I salute you
