to shepherds as they their sheep watch
be not afraid, good tidings we bring
for you and all men, rejoice.

at this time was a cry heard
a baby in danger – lay in a manger
referenced by strangers – wise strangers
but this baby, was in danger for a king sought to devour.

tell Santa to come quickly quick
not with a patridge in a peer tree
but some turkey in wooden tray
for the christening, of this baby in danger.

two turtle doves and three
french hens plus four
culled birds and five golden signet rings
for this baby, who in danger

at that time did six geese start to lay
seven swans swamp to the bay
eight egyptian maids made dresses
for a baby, who in danger lay

nine drummers drummed to the pippings
of ten pipers who piped for eleven ladies
to dance, while twelve lords leaped
