TEMPTED

Read Time:49 Second

Is this your hand, O God, I see
Stirring the waters of my sea;
That now my boat is rocked around-
So much I fear to death I’m bound?

What put this test along my path –
The end of which I’ll get no pat –
Knowing for sure, I’m still but flesh,
That oft would get caught in sin’s mesh!

Oh Lord, why make me climb this hill,
Why test the muscle of my will?
I fall now with the vagrant ones
From whom you’ve saved me more than once

Now that I am the fallen son –
A dark heart shut from heaven’s Sun –
The Devil’s sits nearby to gloat
While reaching for my greedy throat.

So here I stand, in darkness deep.
O Lord, reach down and save this sheep,
It’ll die, the bit of you that’s left
Inside my soul’s yet taint-less cleft!
