LOVE IS NOT LOST

Of all the love I’ve held
no matter the cost;
I’ve never let go,
love is not lost.

Given two eyes,
with depth and breadth,
a field of vision
to behold.
Holding this sight
Wherein my heart,
darkness reels
as light explodes it apart.

Would you die to see a world
other than what you’ve known?
And In the dying
struggle and groan?
And in this behold that you’ve grown?

I was asked a question,
which on my heart did lay:
What do you see your life as
five years from this day?

Given vision–two eyes,
with depth and breadth, .a field to be held.
Holding this sight upon my heart.
in darkness constricting
and real light exploding it apart.
I could only embrace
the nothingness of my sullen heart.

As you depart
toast doesn’t taste the same
You were my marmalade
I’m a bit undressed
You my brilliant masquerade

I remember for a time being blind.
I didn’t see you at my side.
My soul bled,
my head was in the breech.
The sands of time
were like a leach.
To my disgrace…

To my disgrace,
I attached your face.
I thought love was a lie
and aught to be left to wither,
to die.
Cursing God, I wondered…
And WHY??

Then I looked again
seeing you reaching for my hand,
trying so hard to make me understand; Our love is much
more than this gold band.
And sand…

And…

Of all the love I’ve held
no matter the cost;
I’ve never let go,
love is not lost.
