I SLEPT WITH HER by Akinbode Oluwatobi Israel

Read Time:40 Second

On a day when the breeze seems lost,
Roaming the streets, disturbing the trees,
The rain came in search for the lost,
That night…
I slept with her.
.
I slept with a western lady
On her bed full of bed th(b)ugs,
Her swollen eyes was shut,
My fingers all over her bruised skin,
Then….
.
Then I found a cut,
A cut in her inner court,
Her masters were cruel lawyers,
Hitting every flesh of hers with (f) laws,
But that night she moaned…
.
She moaned for peace,
Her tears were iced with fear,
I slept with her softly,
That she said,
That night…
.
At dawn,
Then, I knew
She was a country;
Nigeria,
Not Maria.
