SEYE KUYINU’s collection of poems, THINGS I WANTED TO TELL YOU IN OTHER WORDS, encompasses the most imaginable human experiences a writer could describe. He was open and willing in his way of writing. He exposed his personal experiences for others to learn.

THINGS I WANTED TO TELL YOU IN OTHER WORDS by Seye Kuyinu

The ordinary themes that inspired his writings caught my attention beyond measure, especially the way he wrote about certain things and events in ways that looked beyond ordinary. He wrote about them with passion and successfully tempted my curiosity.

For example, in the poem “THE FIRST TIME HE KILLED…”, you are led to think this guy had committed a crime. Well, he did kill. (You will have to get the book to find out what he killed).
He was creative in presenting his poems. For example, if the title of his poem was entitled “Slanted”, the poem will be printed in a slanted form. Visual!

Seye proved that he could write about mosquitoes buzzing so convincingly that you will hear the sounds, like a million angels singing in heaven, you will be sucked into his words.

THINGS I WANTED TO TELL YOU IN OTHER WORDS makes the things that used to be regular in your life; that wisp of air, that housefly that passes by, the tiny stone that got stuck in the sole of your shoe… seem important.

THINGS I WANTED TO TELL YOU IN OTHER WORDS by Seye Kuyinu

I will call this book a collection of simple poetry – easy to read and easy to understand for any category of audience. It is one of my favorite books.

If you love Tolu Akinyemi and Kukogho Iruesiri Samson, you will love this writer too.
