CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: BRIGITTE POIRSON POETRY CONTEST 2016 [APRIL]

Read Time:3 Minute, 30 Second

Words Rhymes & Rhythm is receiving entries for the BRIGITTE POIRSON POETRY CONTEST (BPPC) SEASON II [2016 APRIL] on the theme: “PEACE ON EARTH”.

“Peace is the only battle worth waging.” ― Albert Camus
“It is not enough to win a war; it is more important to organize the peace.” ― Aristotle

The idea of freedom, peace, and happiness among and within all peoples of the earth can be attained only if people willingly cooperate and put their resources towards forging an end to world violence. It is on this premise that the BPPC April theme is based ― that poets too have a role to play in spreading the message of peace and sounding the warning bells that continued violence portends collective doom for the human race.

Nigerian Poets from all over the country are invited to lend their pens to this theme and related sub-themes like Violence, Terrorism, Extremism, Religion, Humanity, Family, Society, and the role of individuals in attaining world-peace.

As has been severally said, the pen is mightier than the sword. Let’s prove it.

The BPPC is a monthly writing contest aimed at rewarding the under-appreciated talent of young Nigerian poets. It was instituted in February 2015 as a CSR initiative of Words Rhymes & Rhythm (WRR) in honor of Brigitte Poirson, a French poet and lecturer, editor, who has over the years worked assiduously to promote and support of African poetry.
