WHAT FUTILITY MEANS by Theophilus Femi Alawonde

Read Time:39 Second

How futile our preparations look!
We study hard; all those big books,
and yet when results are released,
we are always far from being pleased:

While preparing for my last Exam,
I decided not to cram.
I read as if I couldn’t pray;
read in the night and day.
And I prayed as if I couldn’t read;
prayed till sweats came in beads.
Exam day came and I felt relaxed,
it was simple, and I thought I’d passed.

But, when the results came,
I had to bow my head in shame.
I became convinced beyond doubt,
that my real result was sold out.
What then angered me most,
was what it had all cost.
