SHAWARMA AND I (end acrostic) by Kanyinsola Olorunnisola

Read Time:39 Second

And so it was that I fell head over heelS,
Not for a luscious soft-faced wencH,
But for a white-cloaked sweetness called shawarmA,
A thin bread wrap of meat, chicken and coleslaW,
My God! The tomatoes, the cabbage, the aromA…
Lust at first sight, it made my mouth wateR,
Love at first taste, it felt like a day dreaM,
Paradise had been bought for five hundred nairA,
With its creamy spice it made my tongue a false meccA,
Where pilgrims of turkey and ketchup sauce went in search of heaveN,
But my predatory teeth trapped them in, a grinding grounD,
And so began the untold lovers’ tale of “Shawarma and I”
