But for a white-cloaked sweetness called shawarmA,<br>
A thin bread wrap of meat, chicken and coleslaW,<br>
My God! The tomatoes, the cabbage, the aromA…<br>
Lust at first sight, it made my mouth wateR,<br>
Love at first taste, it felt like a day dreaM,<br>
Paradise had been bought for five hundred nairA,<br>
With its creamy spice it made my tongue a false meccA,<br>
Where pilgrims of turkey and ketchup sauce went in search of heaveN,<br>
But my predatory teeth trapped them in, a grinding grounD,<br>
And so began the untold lovers’ tale of “Shawarma and I”
