Mother Africa:
Lynx deodorant,
Star Wars set,
Safari park,
Quarter-finalist football team.

Mother Africa:
Boeing-avoiding
Famine, flood, AIDS-infested
Black pit on the face of the Globe.

A guilt-trip – eat your beans;
cadaverous Blacks coerce the greens.

Grandmother Africa:
unPeter’s Projected,
Grossly unprotected.
Gross Domestic Product
Unfairly traded.

International Monetary Fund
Morally moribund.
Debt too big
To fit in the pocket,
(Or in the head).

Insane figures
Cram the screen of
a greedy mainframe –
Slave Trade became
Trade slavery.

Great Mother Africa
Can’t keep the Lynx from the door;
Can’t afford to watch Star Wars.
Just a lark, a safari park.

Great Mother Africa:
Hung, drawn and a
Quarter-finalist football team.
