MY COCOON

Read Time:1 Minute, 8 Second

www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [My Cocoon]
My cocoon
its dark inside
pitch black, I cannot see a thing
My wings are small and immature
So limited, my world is cramped
The bigger I get
the tighter it seems.

Its so dark.
chronically dark, I wish it was brighter
Everywhere I look I see nothing – a painful reminder
Is this how things are meant to be?
Then I look again and I see a light
a tiny fragile spark, shining from within me
deep within the chambers of my soul

It gets brighter, this light of hope
It gets bigger- into a flame
It looks glorious – a wondrous scene
and it gradually becomes a raging torch
lighting up my niche
my chronic cocoon
my little limited den

All of a sudden, I hear an explosion
I am transformed. Better still, I’m free
My cocoon is no more a prison cell
no longer a dungeon or gloomy hell
It looks to me like a launching pad
from which I rise in glorious ascent
my wings are spread and I can fly

My time has come
yours will too!
