IF MEN WERE GOD

Read Time:41 Second

Like hoofs and horns
My knees would have callused and constricted
In deep and sorrowful supplications
To deaf ears of mortal fiefdom

Like a broken cistern
My head bruised and broken
In an umpteenth, futile attempt to please
An arrogant mortal majesty

Like the limbs of a beast of burden
My hands crippled and crushed
In boundless servitude and sacrifice
To vain human vassals

My life would have expired as a foetus
As a detestable corpse long forgotten
Unsung, unheard and wasted
Yet this idol thirsts for more blood

If men were God
Lest you err and exclude me
Hell would be better than earth
Yet, mortals think otherwise
