HEAVEN WAS ONCE HERE

Read Time:50 Second

www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [Heaven Was Once Here]
Can you imagine a decade from today?
You are now a fine spouse, a parent of two.
To revisit your college once was your dream.
Now that reverie has become reality.
You stand within its walls glimpsing around.

You see…
The long pathways of fate forlorn ahead
Bundles of scattered leaves everywhere,
Fallen from the tree of love, tree of hope
Under which friendships were once made,
And indeed, innocent love was made!

Gentle breeze floats through lonely classrooms
Through the open windows – change –
Filling you with lost thoughts of the past.
Pictures of pals flash through your mind –
Mental slideshow of photographs!
The moments of togetherness are all long gone!

Their voices haunt your thought
Only fading memories replace comrades…
In the darkness of your memories,
And in the darkness of thoughts
Your mind sadly whispers…
“Heaven was once here!”
