ECONOMY AND BREVITY IN POETRY

Economy is the right word in the right place, saying all that you need to, but never more. Sometimes it’s simple, sometimes elaborate.

Remember your reader brings something too. Leave some meat to chew, but don’t make it too tough.

If you bury it in rich gravy, don’t expect it to be tasty, similarly if you boil it beyond recognition.

Writing an epic or a Haiku requires the same skills.
