CASUALTIES

Read Time:1 Minute, 10 Second

We are casualties again.
Placards displayed, songs chanted,
Of marginalization and liberation.
Wafting through the busy street,
Our bodies are left with their injuries.
Of their annoyance,
We are all casualties again.

We are casualties again.
Arms brandished, bitter expressions
Written all over their faces, anger.
Oil Installations up in flames, burnings unstopped,
Our bodies are left with their injuries.
Of their annoyance,
We are all casualties again.

We are casualties again.
Masks covered impassive faces in daylight.
Fighting unknown causes,
Everything in their path unstopped.
Our bodies are left with their injuries.
Of their annoyance,
We are all casualties again.

We are casualties again.
The mission was to satisfy a few
At the expense of the whole
Without first asking; “Is that what we want?”
Our bodies are left with their injuries.
Of their annoyance,
We are all casualties again.

We are casualties again.
Ah! The deed was done, mission accomplished,
Carried out to gratify their gratifications.
Back home to his family, only to find out
His ward was among those on the street,
On that same street left lying dead for their gains!
Of their annoyance
We are all casualties again.
