BY YOUR SWEAT

I’ve always pondered this thought;
Of all the battles I’ve fought,
How many have I won?
For which do I have a crown?
How many do I think of with a frown?

Yesterday, as I went to sleep,
I told myself “tomorrow I’ll not weep,”
I told myself “deeper you must dig”
I told myself “rise up you must”,
I told myself “Shake off the dust,
In yourself first you should trust,
Before to others your problems you thrust!”

Today I woke up and said,
“Do something, don’t wait to be led.”
So I got up and I said “work hard,
By your sweat you should be fed.”
