BURNING CANDLES by Ogechukwu Emmanuel Samuel

Read Time:46 Second

The candles of your love
Cannot be quenched,
They burn brighter in my heart,
I dream of you,
I can’t help myself.

The moon cringes in shame
At the brightness of your smile,
The sun stands in line behind you,
The stars become useless
And Apollo bows to the ring of your laughter.

The earth halts when she hears your voice,
The moon rotates furiously
To come back to the spot where it glimpsed you.
Mars is glad she’s near mother earth.

Animals curse their fate,
They can’t woo you;
The wind blows past
For a touch of that face.
The ground shudders in exhilaration at the touch of your soles.

I speak of a queen,
The queen of my heart.
In whose eyes i’m helplessly lost,
Whose bidding i’ll do ’cause it’s clear
She’s the queen of my heart.
