AN EAGLE OF TINCTURED GULES by Ijalusi Oluwatola Samuel

Read Time:48 Second

I

Emperor of the sky,
Sterling sharp eyes graced
Strong, beautiful and agile.

Flies over ocean and land,
Flight landing site brittle,
Fresh prey ever did feed.

Brio not to belittle,
Ever brimful of strength,
Clinching claws and bristle.

Watching above on arm coated,
Emblem of or nation quite thick,
Dieing yet sees no end.

Red eagle falling, our nation sick;
Gules eagle on the wreath is weak.

II

Spreads splendor wings,
Flies points cardinal
With prideful shame skyward swings.

Bound flight from the north pole
To the west shelter and east farms
Way down to the south toll.

Sees gory oiled palms
On dignified fertile soil- wry
Unity and faith, peace and progress balms.

O eagle ruling our sky;
Emblem of our nation quite thick,
Heal, oh heal; we cry.

Red eagle falling, our nation sick;
Gules eagle on the wreath is weak.
