WHO AM I? by Dominic Ayegba Okoliko

Read Time:59 Second

Who am I that you should keep me in mind?
That you should demonstrate your might?
From the dark dungeon full of dung,
You drew me out with your arm so strong.

Deep down in the deep,
I lay hapless and hopeless.
Emptiness was all there was to see.
Tormented about a future held in trepidation,
I let out my groan in great desolation.

That was until you showed up
Flashing upon my darkest night
Your luminous rays so bright,
Like those of the dazzling full moon.
But what is that compared to you my Light?

Before you, death’s embrace
Disappears into fine thin
Just as mist gives way
In the face of sunrise.

Now in the clasp of your soothing fold,
I let out sigh in great relieve.
Like one whose long thirst is quenched from a fount
You had my empty golf filled.

Oh! How much I revel this moment!
I am completely drenched in your abundance.
My dints and stinks your mercy have cleansed
Leaving me a clean slate reflecting your radiance.

I am crazing in thankfulness,
Tipsy with it like a drunk.
Having drank out of your fullness,
I am forever your own.
