UNITY, NOT UNIONISM (a poem in Yoruba and English)

Read Time:1 Minute, 6 Second

www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [Unity, Not Unionism]
If you asked Ṣàngó to bless Okoro
He would ask with rage of fire in his mouth
Who is Okoro?

If you asked Amadioha to go save Igbos in Kano
He would ask if it’s a quarters in Nnewi

If you called on the soul of Usman Dan-Fodio
To help the Hausa-Fulanis living in Lagos
He would say ‘that is a nation too far from Sokoto’

Thank goodness for Lugard
Who has brought us close as a family

Nigerians……let us live in unity and not unionism

Bí a bá bẹ Ṣàngó kí ó súre fún Okoro
Yóò bèrè pẹlú iná lẹnu
‘tani Okoro’

Bí a bá bẹ ‘Amadíọà’
Kí o lọ gba àwọn ọmọ Ìgbò ni ìlúu Kánò
Yóò bèrè bóyá agbolé ni ní ìlúu ‘Nnewi’

Bí a bá períi ẹlẹdáa Ùsmánù Dan-Fódíò
Kí o lọ sàánúu àwọn ẹya Awúsá àti Fúlàní
Tí n gbé ní ìlú Èkó
Yóò wípé orílẹ èdè ọwún jì sí ìlúù Sókótó

A dúpẹ lọwọọ orí fún Lùgáàdì
Tí ó fà wá mọra gẹgẹ bíi ẹbí
Ẹyin ọmọ Nàìjíríà……..Ẹ jẹ kí a gbé pẹlú ìsọ kan
Kí a má ṣe gbé pẹlúu ìmọ ẹyà m’ẹyà
