THE EAGLE, THE CHICK by Stanley Egeonu

Read Time:55 Second

I saw the eagle in my hood
Spreads it’s wings against the air
scouring for my baby chick to pick on,
what a disgusting move you wore up.

“ssshhhh” in a mute tone,
I signal my baby chick from a distance,
“save yourself against the beast” she stood weird glancing up the sky,
Am i talking to the wind?
can’t hear the language.

I perceive the war around the edges,
Her kind running helter shelter the nook,
I saw the pains beneath their lid,
I understand the current suit.

And when reach for the little rocks
the chick nowhere to be found.
Where have you gone to little chick?
I call out the air wave.

Oh! no no i beg you
please, bring her back
she’s too tender to be gone,
she’s too little to devour.

From the eagles crawl she cry for help
I felt the flowing tear in my heart,
I heard the echo of her voice,
What a failure i am to you little chick
