SUPPLICATION (prayer of a contrite heart by Jack Vince)

Read Time:36 Second
Supplication

Dear Lord I need you in my life –
Not the edge of my sharp knife.
What need have I for dope
Since your word spurs my hope?

Lord I know, I must from my ways turn
To thee – that my joy may return.
For when my eyes behold the rugged tree
I know your grace alone will set me free!

Though my prodding worries be huge
In thee Dear Lord I know I’ll find refuge
And though in my chest I bear great pain
I know that you alone can make it gain.

I hear you whisper, “It is finished”,
And indeed my fears are vanquished!
