HEARTS’ RHETORICAL CRY

Read Time:51 Second

See! How she has become a tyre that lost its core; the rim
Surviving has become her extant synonym
She live for the day
Working incessantly, never relay

She said we are independent
But what is freedom?
We can’t lay in our tent
Or lodge at the neighbour’s dome
What if kidnappers are at bay?
Or suicide bomber with us are ready †ơ lay

While dependent, she weaned from the whites’ breasts
Zealous for growth
Tơ govern herself; trough and crest
Now free, she can’t wax her own brow

Where are the high and hills she promised?
Freedom, education, democracy!
I’m sure some I would have missed
Corruption have turned the opposites coxy
See! her dignity and integrity nakedly blinks
How her tattered and delicate cloth shrinks

Alas! She s still a toddler
With triplet tơ rear
Where are the diapers we deserve
Even the sweet colostrum she can’t serve

Then when will we stop living for the day?
When will we live to dream?
And hanke to live the dream
