WOOING REBECCA [for Rebecca Effiong Okon who hates Poetry]

Wooing REBECCA who hates Poetry...

Wooing REBECCA who hates Poetry…

I met a damsel named Rebecca
Who has the face of an angel sent from heaven.
Now I’m hoping she’s not a heart breaker
…Because she’s got me thinking of her 24/7!

Alas, my Rebecca loves not poetry
And her ears sway not for flowery words.
But then my words are not flattery,
Concocted to bind her heart with cords.

Someone tell me how to breach her heart,
Tell me how to make words melt her metal wall.
Tell me where her heart’s hidden path
Lies. So I can make her heed my earnest call!

Maybe I should rhyme a smiling Sun,
Make the wind hum a rhythm of stricken souls,
Conjure a palace, and make puns
That’ll make her fidget on her tender toes?

Someone tell me, please,
That my soul may find sweet release.

  • You must be wrong; she has to love that poetry!

    • I am trying to make her love poetry but she is being tough

      • she must be tough, you had me on the first line. lol

        • Really, are you a lady? Would write a poem for you if I can see a picture of you…thats all I need.

          • Yes I am a lady.

          • i see only flowers. Are you on facebook? let me peek at a photo of you.

          • No Facebook I have no need to put myself on Facebook. I could send you any pic and say its me, so does my face really matter? No I am the flower. I am open. I like floral poems.

          • Okay, lets see how that works…you like flower poems.

          • I have learnt my lesson with Facebook, I don’t need a shitload of false friends who comment about you on each others pages; especially when they are family members who could care less if your dead or alive. Sorry but Facebook has left a really bad taste in my mouth.

          • I understand…so I wrote you a poem that I would like you to read…but I wouldnt want it posted here as a comment for everyone to see.

Where should that go? An email?
